Warranty Policy

Warranty Policy

Last updated: 4 August 2026

At Affina Haus, we believe quality should last. We carefully curate products from trusted Australian and international manufacturers and stand behind the craftsmanship of every product we sell.

This Warranty Policy explains how warranty claims are handled and should be read together with our Terms of Service, Shipping Policy and Privacy Policy.

1. Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

You are entitled to:

  • a replacement or refund for a major failure;
  • compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage where required by law; and
  • have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Nothing in this Warranty Policy excludes, restricts or modifies your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

2. Manufacturer Warranties

Many products sold by Affina Haus are covered by manufacturer warranties.

Warranty periods and coverage vary depending on the product and manufacturer.

Where a manufacturer provides an additional warranty, that warranty applies alongside your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Specific warranty information may also appear on individual product pages.

3. What Is Covered

Subject to the applicable manufacturer's warranty, warranty coverage generally includes:

  • Manufacturing defects
  • Faulty workmanship
  • Material defects
  • Mechanical failures arising during normal residential use
  • Faults present at the time of manufacture

4. Natural Materials & Finish Variations

Many Affina Haus products are crafted from natural materials including:

  • Solid brass
  • Marble
  • Travertine
  • Natural stone
  • Timber
  • Leather

Each piece is naturally unique.

Variations in colour, grain, veining, texture, markings and natural ageing are not defects and form part of the character of the product.

Similarly, unlacquered and living brass finishes are designed to naturally develop a patina over time.

5. Inspection Before Installation

Products should be carefully inspected immediately upon delivery and before installation.

If a product appears to be damaged, incorrect or visibly defective, it should not be installed.

Please contact Affina Haus as soon as possible so we can assess the issue and determine the appropriate resolution.

Installation of a product with an obvious visible defect may affect remedies available under the manufacturer's warranty, subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

6. Professional Installation

Affina Haus strongly recommends that all hardware be installed by a suitably qualified tradesperson.

Customers are responsible for ensuring products are suitable for their intended application before installation, including confirming:

  • dimensions;
  • handing;
  • lock compatibility;
  • backset requirements;
  • finish selection; and
  • application suitability.

Affina Haus is not responsible for incorrect specification or product selection made by the customer.

7. Installation & Associated Costs

Affina Haus does not arrange, supervise or warrant the workmanship of third-party installers.

Except where required by the Australian Consumer Law, Affina Haus is not responsible for costs associated with:

  • installation or re-installation of products;
  • removal of hardware;
  • removal or replacement of doors, cabinetry, walls, tiles or other building materials;
  • repainting, plastering or finishing work;
  • locksmith, carpenter, cabinet maker or electrician fees;
  • project delays;
  • temporary security measures;
  • accommodation costs;
  • loss of income;
  • business interruption; or
  • any indirect or consequential loss associated with installation or replacement of a product.

Where a product is found to have a manufacturing defect, our responsibility will generally be limited to repairing, replacing or refunding the defective product in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law.

8. Care & Maintenance

To maximise the life of your hardware:

  • Clean using only a soft dry or slightly damp cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive pads, metal polish, acids, ammonia-based cleaners or harsh chemicals.
  • Follow any care instructions supplied with the product.
  • Select finishes appropriate for the intended environment.

Damage caused by improper cleaning, maintenance or environmental exposure is not covered under warranty.

9. What Is Not Covered

Unless required under Australian Consumer Law, warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Natural ageing of finishes
  • Surface scratches after installation
  • Incorrect installation
  • Improper maintenance
  • Chemical damage
  • Abrasive cleaning
  • Accidental damage
  • Misuse
  • Negligence
  • Commercial use where the product is intended for residential applications
  • Coastal or harsh environmental exposure where the selected finish is unsuitable
  • Alterations or modifications
  • Incorrect specification or product selection by the purchaser
  • Door preparation or machining errors
  • Damage caused by other trades
  • General maintenance

10. Making a Warranty Claim

If you believe your product has a manufacturing fault, please contact us as soon as possible.

To assist us in assessing your claim, please provide:

  • Your order number
  • Proof of purchase
  • A description of the issue
  • Clear photographs of the product
  • Photographs showing the installed environment (if applicable)

Where necessary, we may request that the product or affected component be returned for inspection.

11. Warranty Assessment

Each warranty claim is assessed individually.

Where a claim is accepted, Affina Haus may, at its discretion and in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law:

  • repair the product;
  • replace the product;
  • replace the affected component; or
  • provide an appropriate refund.

Unless required by the Australian Consumer Law, warranty remedies apply to the product itself and do not extend to installation costs, removal costs, tradesperson fees or any associated project expenses.

12. Replacement Lead Times

Where replacement products are required under warranty, lead times will vary depending on supplier availability.

Typical replacement lead times are:

  • Standard products – approximately 6 weeks
  • Special finishes – approximately 8–10 weeks
  • Custom or made-to-order products – approximately 10–12 weeks

These timeframes are estimates only and may vary depending on manufacturing schedules and freight availability.

13. Limitation of Warranty

Except where required by the Australian Consumer Law, this Warranty Policy does not cover indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from the use, installation, replacement or failure of a product.

Nothing in this Warranty Policy limits or excludes any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.
